There must be 300 million executive resume writers on the Internet these days ... okay, maybe not that many. =] But it sure seems like millions when you're trying to find the right one, am I right? So, what makes a professional resume writer? What separates the wheat from the chaff? A number of obvious factors such as quality of resume-writing credentials, skill of writing resumes, and years in business, of course, but I feel client feedback and client successes are some of the primary indicators to being a top executive resume writer.
"A resume is not *just* a resume any more." I very much believe this statement, and I'll tell you why.
First, today's jobseekers migrate resume content into their LinkedIn accounts, online portfolios, emails, blogs, and other social networking forums.
Second, a resume is increasingly used to complement a brag book, land clients/vendor relationships, secure seed money for a business start-up, and leverage salary negotiations. Unheard of just 10 years ago!
Third, today's executive resumes now contain branding statements/taglines; reflect the broadness and depth of skills; and finally, display the "backyard" and global leadership accomplishments of executives.
Phew, what a list! Who knew executive resumes would be so popular? =]
